Este documental de dos partes (cuatro horas) utiliza como marco una actuación de 1971 en Los Ángeles que Sinatra hizo como concierto de jubilación, aunque hubo muchos más conciertos antes de su muerte en 1998.
La grabación del concierto se convierte en una puerta al material de archivo y comentario de los expertos de Sinatra, los miembros de la familia y el propio Sinatra, que se escucha en extractos de diversas entrevistas.
Habla de sus relaciones amorosas con Nancy Barbato, su primera esposa, con Lauren Bacall, con Ava Gardner, entre otras.
Está dirigido por Alex Gibney (quien también dirigió el documental sobre Cienciología “Going Clear”).
